Rosary HSS (Navelim) triumph

Defending champions Rosary Higher Secondary, Navelim defeated Infant Jesus High School, Colva 6-5 via the tie-breaker to win the Salcete Taluka Under-17 Subroto Mukherjee inter-school football tournament organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs at Government ground, Raia, Manora on Thursday. Rosary were trailing 0-1 at the breather.
Infant Jesus High School, Colva dominated the first half with Sunil Shetty scoring early as Rosary looked out of sorts.
Rosary turned the battle in a scintillating fashion late in the second half with striker Turnard Fernandes putting them on equal terms.
For Rosary, Sheldon Rodrigues, Amuridin Shaikh, Cletus Pereira, Placdino Fernandes and Ronaldo Dias scored in the penalty shoot-out while Ronnie Hilario, Anselm Rodrigues, Sunil Shetty and Richard Shetty converted for Colva .
Gromiko Fernandes, headmaster, Our Lady of Rosary High School, Fatorda was the chief guest and distributed the certificates to the teams. Earlier, Bevyln Colaco e Rodrigues, Salcete Taluka Sports Organiser, welcomed and later proposed the vote of thanks.
