CURTORIM: Rossman Cruz, Nagoa-Verna defeated SC Davorlim 1-0 to lift the Wilred LeisureSoccer trophy in the final of the Wilred Leisure soccer tournament organised by Wilred Leisure Curtorim, on DYSA ground, Curtorim, on Sunday.
It was the clash of two Salcete giants with both the teams looking towards clinching the trophy, Savio Fernandes of Rossman Cruz had the first shy at the goal however Savio’s solo move was tackled by Davorlim’s Bonny Niasso in the 2nd minute of the match.
With Rossman Cruz mounting pressure on the rivals it was difficult for Davorlim to hold the rival strikers at bay. Rossman Cruz were successful after they smashed the ball home to take an early lead in the match through Beneston Barreto.
Davorlim trailing by a goal went all out to find the equaliser as Rossman Cruz held up to defending strategy.
Davorlim’s Paxton Gomes should’ve found the net soon afterwards however Rossman Cruz’ keeper Royal Moniz was equal to the task.
Bonny Niasso sent in a well measured pass to his teammate Joel Colaco however he shot wide in the 39th minute.
Savio Fernandes had the chance to drive the final nail into the coffin in the 53rd minute after Stephan Satorkar sent in a well measured ball but the former failed to convert.
The winners were awarded Rs 40,000 plus trophy while the runners-up were given Rs 30,000 plus trophy.
