PANJIM: Rossman Cruz, Nagoa-Verna Sports Club defeated Augustias Sporting Club, Pomburpa, 3-0 to sail into the finals of 23rd Vagator Soccer at Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club ground, Saturday.
In the 4th minute, Augustias had an opportunity to take the lead but Anford Fernandes failed to score even as Rossman Cruz goalkeeper Savio Pereira misjudged the bounce but he made up for his mistake with a quick reaction save.
Rossman Cruz goalkeeper Savio effected a double save in the 12th minute to deny Anford Fernandes yet again.
Just before the break, Rossman Cruz broke the deadlock as a corner from Savio Pereira was headed away by a Pomburpa defender. The ball went to Clifton Rebello who struck a 25-yard beauty that found the back of the nets.
Rossman Cruz dominated and doubled their lead as Clifton Rebello from the edge of the penalty area dipped a shot over the rival goalkeeper Naved Almeida.
In the 63rd minute, Anthony Fernandes of Pomburpa had a chance to pull one back but his strike sailed over. Just before the final whistle Clifton Rebello turned provider as he squared to Andrus John, who netted in.
The man-of-the match prize was awarded to Clifton Rebello of Rossman Cruz by Joaquim Fernandes.
