FATORDA: FIFA Youth Instructor Roy Millar is delighted with India’s footballing standards in recent times.
Speaking during the sidelines of the FIFA Youth Coaching course, Instructor Roy Miller said, “I am delighted today as the standards of young coaches in India has been better than what had I expected,”
“My aim is to improve their knowledge and the coaching abilities, because India needs more youth team coaches to develop the youth teams in India,” Roy added, who is also the Northern Ireland Director for coaches.
He further revealed that Indian U-17 team played very well and also mentioned about the senior team which did extremely well in the qualifiers for the Asian championship.
Roy is presently in Goa and conducting the FIFA clinic for Youth Coaches at the Artificial Turf ground, Fatorda. “I am emphasising on techniques and skills in all aspects of the game,”
Roy Millar has been impressed with ISL clubs –FC Goa and said, “FC Goa is a good team and their football standards are quite high. I am very impressed with their style of play.” He revealed.
Goa’s Bibiano Fernandes, the U-16 Indian fotball team coach is also attending this course and said, “This courses refreshes us and it covers mostly basic things,”
Savio Meideira Techinical Director of AIFF said this course is beneficial for the coaches to refresh them and to learn modern trends. Marian Dias, the coach educator for AIFF was also present for the camp.
