NAGOA: Royal Wahingdoh FC thrashed United Sports Club 3-0 to move into the final of the Nike Premier Cup 2016 U-15 Youth League organised by All India football Federation, at Nagoa ground, on Tuesday.
Thongram Santosh Singh, Rheadolf Nelson made some striking moves for Royal Wahingdoh FC by displaying good footballing skills.
Rheadolf scored the first goal in the 37th minute with a powerful shot within three minutes Royal Wahingdoh FC doubled their lead of a penalty kick taken by Phrangki Buam.
Kabir Mallick tripped the striker of Royal Wahingdoh inside the penalty area of United Sports Club, match referee Rafeek Babu M spotted the dreaded spot and awarded a penalty.
In the second half, substitute Modester Matlai stamped his authority to score the third goal in the 88th minute.
In another semi-final played in the evening, Minerva Academy FC blanked Mohammedan SC 2-0 to book the final berth.
Both the sides fought tooth and nail, but at the end it was Minerva who came out victorious with an better all-round performance.
Moirangthem Givson Singh (55th) and Thounaojam Jeakson Singh (80th) scored for Minerva, who will face Royal Wahingdoh in the final on Friday.
Mohammedan SC began the match on the front foot and in the opening quarter they went close through Surajuddin Munshi and Debraj Rakshit but the Minerva defence stood firm denying Mohammedan SC attackers.
In the 23rd minute Mohammedan SC had their best chance of the half when Rahul Sarkar played a delightful pass for Kaushik Saha, but the midfielder failed to keep his effort on target from inside the 6-yard box.
The Punjab outfit did not lag behind as they gave good account of themselves and created a couple of moves but failed to convert them into goals as the first half ended scoreless.
Minerva Academy FC looked a better side post half time and tested the Mohammedan SC defence through Givson and Shubham Sarangi in the opening exchanges.
Ten minutes into the session, Minerva Academy FC did manage to break the deadlock when Givson scored a crackling goal to put his side ahead.
However, Mohammedan SC almost got the equaliser in the 67th minute but Mohammedan SC Giasuddin failed to reach the ball after Suraj Rajbanshi released a through ball.
Minerva Academy FC doubled their advantage in the 80th minute through Jeakson who tricked Mohammedan SC custodian Aftab Alam to give his team a two-goal lead.
Mohammedan SC’s intent of getting back into the game was evident, but the Kolkata outfit failed to construct enough quality attempts which could threaten Minerva Academy FC.
