MARGAO: A late strike by Ryan Fernandes enabled CRC, Chinchinim overcome Panchwadi United Sports Club 1-0 to advance into the quarter-finals of all-Goa 32nd Gold Silver Rolling Trophy inter-village football tournament, organized by Navelim Sporting Club, at Sinquetim ground, Navelim, Thursday.
There was no score at lemon break.
In an evenly poised match, both adopted aggressive approach midway in the opening session.
Panchwadi had the better of the exchanges in both the sessions but their forwards either shot wide or shot straight into the safe hands of CRC goalkeeper.
Crossing over, Panchwadi continued to enjoy the better share of exchanges but their forwards frittered away sitters from ideal positions.
With the match heading for tie-breaker, Ryan Fernandes struck the match winner at the fag end for CRC to bring cheers to the camp.
