S J Areal in last eight

Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club defeated Our Lady of Gloria Sports Club 2-1 to march into the quarter-finals of Super Soccer football tournament organised by United Club of Benaulim at Dando ground, Benaulim on Saturday. The teams were tied 1-1 at half time.
The first session was a pulsating one as both teams played attacking soccer.  Sao Jose de Areal increased the tempo soon after the kick-off and found success in the 3rd minute when Dezy Olveira slotted past the Gloria goalkeeper with a firm grounder.
Stung by the setback, Gloria regrouped quickly and took the fight to the rival camp.  Their persistent forays fetched them the equalizer when Charlatan Tavares beat rival goalkeeper with a snap shot in the 30th minute.
Changing over, Sao Jose de Areal went into an attacking mode and were rewarded when Mariano Rebello latched on to a ball from his own half and placed it into the far corner of the net.
Gloria tried their best to make inroads into rival territory but Sao Jose de Areal defenders stood tall and repulsed the attacks with neat tackles.
