PANJIM: Sporting Clube de Goa registered a 5-0 victory over Portais Sporting Club in the GFA’s U-16 football league match, at St Cruz ground, on Tuesday.
Four goals from Sahil Haldankar and one goal from David Cardozo sealed the match comfortably in favour of The Flaming Oranje.
The young Flaming Oranje started off on a high note with some impressive passing and promising through balls. David Cardozo opened the scoreline for Sporting Clube in the 19th minute with a fine placement from the left. Once ahead the Sporting Clube lads continued to make runs on either flanks testing the Portais keeper from a long range however man of the hour was Sahil, who netted the next four goals for Sporting Clube. He got on the score sheet in the 28th minute with a powerful right-footed shot from a close range. The next one came in as the Portias defender brought down Aman Govekar inside the box and Sahil stepped in to score from the spot kick to give Sporting Clube a 3-0 lead before switching ends.
