Sai Avtaar edge out Rossman

CALANGUTE, FEB 15
Sai Avtaar, Anjuna got the better of Rossman Cruz Nagoa, Verna 2-1 in the inaugural match of 1st All-Goa inter-village football tournament for Laxmi and Subha memorial trophy sponsored by Deu S Banaulikar and organised by Nerul Sports Club at Nerul ground on Tuesday.
Both teams began on a promising note. However, it was Anjuna who took the lead in the 26th minute through Sagun Kambli.
Changing over, Rossman fought back and restored parity in the 5th minute through Vijal Rego off a penalty. The penalty was awarded to Rossman as Steven was brought down in the danger zone by Anjuna defender Cristopher. Vijal who was entrusted with the kick made no mistake in placing the ball past the Anjuna keeper. 
Goaded by success, Rossman could have forged ahead in the 12th minute but Steven failed to beat the rival keeper in a one-to-one situation. 
Vijal Rego was declared the man-of-the-match.
Earlier, the tournament was kicked off by Moti Dessai, uncle of Deu S Banaulikar, the sponsorer of the tournament.
