PONDA: Sai Avtar Anjuna came from behind to beat holders Raia Sporting 5-4 via the tie-breaker after being 2-0 down in the second half to enter the final of the 30th All Goa St. Anne’s Festival Soccer organised by Ponda Footballers in association with Dr. Ketan Bhatikar’s SPARC played at Animal Husbandry ground, Curti-Ponda, on Monday.
In the 3rd minute, Raia’s Joyson received a long ball as he chipped it over the advancing keeper but the ball kissed the crossbar. In the 21st minute, Raia open the account when Joyson Gauncar chipped the ball into the goal off a corner-kick. In the 34th minute, Allwyn gave through ball to Oilex Oliveira who beat the keeper to double the lead.
In the second half, Oilex got a loose ball but his shot was saved by the Anjuna keeper. In the 42nd minute, Anjuna’s Abhisek crossed the ball and Saprem Diukar who tapped the ball into the goal to reduce the margin to 1-2.
In the 52nd minute, Dinesh’s free-kick was smartly headed into the goal by Floyd to equalise.
In the tie-breaker, Saprem, Soma and Nilesh scored for Anjuna while Daniel and Allwyn netted for Raia.
