CALANGUTE:Hosts Saipem Sports Club defeated Remedious Boys Candolim via tie-breaker, to storm into the semi-finals of Saipem SC Calangute constituency inter-ward football tournament played at Gustavo Monteiro ground, Candolim, on Tuesday
The match started with attacking play. Jonathan missed a sitter in the 5th minute when he had only the goalkeeper to beat.
In a defence laps by Saipem SC defenders Remedious Boys got a spot kick where they took a lead to make it 1-0.
Saipem SC immediately through their attacking moves got the equaliser through Bapu Pednekar and went in to take the lead which came through a good pass from Snedden where Paul scored before the break.
Before the whistle could go off for the breather, Remedious Boys equalised through Melwyn making it 2- 2.
In the second half Derrick scored to give the lead to Remedious Boys making it 3-2.
Remedious Boys soon afterwards went all out to defend the lead but could not stop Saipem SC from scoring the equaliser, through a superb move by Rohan, Remo and Bapu Pednekar who just had to tap the ball in the net. At full time the score was 3-3.
In the ensuing tie breaker Saipem SC keeper Ricardo Cardozo was the hero of the day as he saved 3 spot kicks while Ricardo and Rohan converted for the team.
Terrence was the lone player to find the net for Remedious Boys.
In the semi final Saipem Sports Club will meet Camotim Vaddo.
