RAIA: Salcete FC, the cradle of Goan grassroot football, felicitated its players and coaches at Bethany Convent High School, recently.
Under the guidance of coaches Donald Rocha and Vaibhav Raut, the lads added many laurels to their kitty for the season.
U-13 boys were Salcete Zone winners, South Zone runners-up and Goa State semi-finalist while the U-15 boys were winners of Salcete Zone, South District and Goa State runners-up.
Arjuna Awardee and Salcete FC Chairman Brahmanand Shankwalker, Salcete FC President Agnelo Fernandes, Genenarl Secretary Jacinto Fernandes and Treasurer Sunil Naik spoke in length in terms of motivation, sportsmanship and becoming better citizens.
The school headmistress Sister Mary Flavia D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks with a special mention for Alberto Colaco, who sowed the seed for the club from which blossomed many international, State, club level players including international level coaches.
