MARGAO: Salcete FC came from behind to defeat Sao Miguel de Taleigao 3-2 in a GFA First Division league match at Assolna ground, Saturday. The teams were tied 1-1 at half-time.
Unfazed, Salcete went into an attacking mode and created many forays into the rival territory. They paid off in the 32nd minute when Neves Noronha nodded home a well executed floater from Francis Andrade.
Crossing over, Salcete put up a better display and tormented the rival defense with well orchestrated raids and Benny D’Silva punished the rival goalkeeper with a deft placement in the 58th minute. Later, Sleagan Rodrigues bulged the net.
After taking a 3-1 cushion, Salcete slackened their pace and allowed their opponents freedom to move inside the rival territory and striker Gautam struck the second time to
complete his brace.
