MARGAO: Salcete Football Club defeated Raia Sporting Club 3-2 in a GFA First Division League at Raia panchayat ground, Monday. Salcete led 2-0 at half time.
Salcete dominated the proceedings right from the word go. Their persistent forays paid off when Slegan Gracias bulged the net after being fed by Francis Andrade.
The early goal spurred Salcete to mount pressure and they raided the rival citadel freely and doubled the lead when hardworking midfielder Francis Andrade unleashed a left footed drive which crashed into the net.
Raia created some opportunities but their forwards failed to get past the Salcete defenders.
Crossing over, Salcete continued to enjoy domination with their forwards and midfielders working in tandem to put the rival citadel under pressure. Oilex Oliveira punished the rival goalkeeper with a swift shot off Francis Andrade.
Raia hit back, raise their game and Shekar reduced the margin when he slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a rasping shot .
The reducer helped Raia to mount pressure and Satish punted the ball to far corner of the net.
