MARGAO: Salcete Young Stallions beat Pai Khot Fighters by 4 wickets and 7 balls to spare in the Desserts n More U-25 Boys Sarsangan Cricket Series at Arlem Cricket ground.
Electing to bat first, Pai Khot Fighters could not capitalise on the opening stand of 39 put on by Atchut Naik Dalal 27 (27 balls, 4 x 4s) and Omkar Nadkarni 10 (22 balls) as the Stallions kept picking wickets at regular intervals. Though Mehank Dharwadkar 18 (15 balls, 1 x 4s), Arsh Sardesai 15 (9 balls, 2 x 4s),
Shridhar Keni 18 (20 balls, 2 x 4s) and Karan Mahale 13 (8 balls, 1 x 6s) tried their best, Pai Khot Fighters could manage to put on 122 getting dismissed in 19.5 overs.
The pick of the Stallions bowlers being Saish Hegde 3-10, Smit Dalvi 2-12, Aditya Dalal 2-21 and Pratham Prabhugaonkar 1-12.
In reply, Salcete Young Stallions were rocked by good pace bowling from Samprabh Phaldesai and Arsh Sardesai and at one stage were reeling at 48-5, with only their skipper Aditya Dalal reaching double figures (10). However a fine 47 run unbeaten partnership between the Kossambe brothers, southpaw Pratham 46 not out (43 balls, 5 x 4s) and Paarth 18 not out (22 balls, 1 x 4s) took the Stallions home as they registered their 2nd win in as many matches.
For Pai Khot Fighters, Arsh Sardesai 2-10, Samprabh Phaldesai 2-32, Sahil Neurenkar 1-14 and Pranav Kamat 1-16 were successful bowlers. Pratham Kossambe was awarded the man-of-the-match award at the hands of Satyesh Kamat, Sarvesh Kamat and Aditya Prabhugaonkar in the presence of Gomakant Mahambrey.
