AMBELIM: Salgaocar Football Club (juniors) blanked Dempo Sports Club (juniors), in the Geno First Division League in association with Jhoncy Restaurant Benaulim, played at Ambelim ground, on Friday.
Arif Pathan scored a splendid hat-trick to down the young Golden Eagles.
The teams started the match on equal footing and tried to surge ahead of their rivals from the word go.
However, the first quarter of the game was restricted to midfield play as either of the sides cancelled out the rival chances.
It was in the 28th minute that Salgaocar FC finally managed to open the account through their hardworking striker Arif Pathan who dribbled past the rival defenders and slotted the ball home to make it 1-0.
Salgaocar FC were not done yet as they tried their level best to get more goals and managed to inflate the lead again through Arif just before the breather.
Post resumption, Dempo SC re-grouped and went on an attacking rampage in order to get back into the game however they faced another setback as Salgaocar FC Arif completed his hat-trick through a counter-attacking move in the 54th minute to make it 3-0. Dempo SC tried to get back into the game however their strikers fumbled at the goal, as the final score read in favour of Salgaocar FC.
