Salgaocar played with purpose with Mario Soares, Roque Carneiro and Robert Fernandes doing the hard work in the midfield.
For Chinchinim, Jerry Fernandes was the lone battler and lacked support from his teammates. Salgaocar wasted decent chances with striker Anthony Pereira and Bhibhi Fernandes being the culprits.
The lone goal materialized midway through the second session when Roque Carneiro found Xavier Colaco on the right flank and the medio fired in a fine cross for Anthony Pereira, who headed in past the agile Chinchinim goalkeeper Vishwald D’Souza.
Chinchinim attacked in search of the equalizer but Salgaocar defenders Shaikh Niazi and Baptist D’Mello were rock solid.
