NAGOA-VERNA: Salgaocar FC edged past FC Goa 2-1 in the sub-junior Hero India Youth League organised by AIFF, at Nagoa Verna ground, on Tuesday.
It was Salgaocar striker Micheal Nevil Dias who missed the first best chance in the eighth minute but the latter’s move was tackled by FC Goa defender Siddel Araujo.
Later in the tenth minute, FC Goa’s medio Prachit Gaonkar connected a well measured ball from Velrose Velli Dias but the latter’s move was tackled by Salgaocar defender Hayden Cassiano Fernandes.
In the second half Salgaocar FC midfielder Ashnoy Prince Gomes connected a well-measured ball to Michael N Dias whose shot hit got rival defender deflection and went out of play in the 37th minute.
It was Micheal N Dias who gave Salgaocar FC the lead with a placement shot off Flan Crasto’s connect in the 42nd minute. Later a free-kick taken by Rui Carlo Piedade Noronha passed in between the defenders of FC Goa to double the lead for Salgaocar FC in the 50th minute.
As match the progressed, in the 65th minute VelroseVelli Dias’ header helped FC Goa pull a goal back to take the final score to 1-2.
