PANJIM: A collective term performance helped Salgaocar Football Club outplay Verna Sports Club 5-0 in the Goa Football Association U-16 League match played at Don Bosco Oratory ground, on Thursday.
Nevil Menezes scored a brace while Sidney Lucas, Jordan Borges and Sidney Gaunkar got on to the score sheet for the Green Brigade.
Salgaocar FC got off to a flying start as they scored their first in the 6th minute when Beckham Dias played a defence splitting pass to Nevil Menezes, who only had the job of finishing and the lad didn’t disappoint his teammates scoring with ease past the helpless keeper.
Verna Sports Club were nowhere in the match as they struggled to match their opponents. At the other end, Salgaocar FC’s Beckham Dias and Jordan Borges commanded the midfield and sprayed in passes to the strikers upfront.
Salgaocar doubled the account in the 12th minute as Sydney Lucas was quickest to react to Jordan Borges rebound shot.
The third goal came in the 20 minute when Jordan ran down the left flank and delivered a perfect cross to Nevil, who was lurking in the box, and the lad made no mistake in making it 3-0.
Varca SC looked scattered on the field as not even their defensive approach could stop the onslaught as Jordan Borges tore down the rival defence with ease as he ran past entire Verna SC defence before rounding off the keeper to make it 4-0.
The fifth came in at the half hour mark when Gangaram assisted Sydney Gaunkar for the team’s fifth. The second half, was more of possession play as Salgaocar FC played the ball more in the midfield.
