MARGAO: Salgaocar FC got the better of SAI, Goa 2-0 goals in the All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) U-15 Youth League football match, at Assolna ground, on Saturday. There was no score in the first half.
The teams played exciting football and provided end-to-end action.
SAI could have taken an early lead but Shivam Badve’s effort hit the upright and went out of play after being fed by Sashan Kahan.
Thereafter, in the 12th minute, Chaitan Komarpant of Salgaocar FC shot wide from inside the penalty area of a supply by medio Ribhay Sardesai.
Crossing over, the teams started attacking and in the 47th minute SAI’s Sashan Kahan saw his shot saved by rival goalkeeper, Dylan D’Silva.
Salgaocar FC through Levy Pereira missed three chances to score as all three hit the goalpost and rebounded back to play.
However, the deadlock was broken in the 82nd as substitute Aaron Barretto headed in of a cross of Frezer Gomes.
Soon, Salgaocar FC doubled their lead through Frezer Gomes’ long ranger in the 90th minute of a supply by Ribhay Sardesai.
