PANJIM: Salgaocar FC thumped Quelossim SC 5-1 in their GFA U-16 league match played at Cansaulim football ground, on Saturday.
Both the teams had a great start with strong and swift attacks from both the sides.
Quelossim SC came close to scoring a goal but the fierce strike from the Quelossim forward was saved by the rival keeper Vellyo Silva.
It was Sporting Clube’s turn to show some domination over their rivals and Sevon Silva managed to break the dead lock with a header which went past the Quelossim SC keeper after he found a well measured ball off a corner kick by his teammate inside the box.
At half time the scoreboard read 1-0 in favour of Salgaocar FC.
Post resumption, the Green Brigades came back stronger and soon found the ball at the back of the net through Aman Rajbhar who caught the Quelossim SC keeper off guard and scored from 30 yards with a powerful strike.
In not less than two minutes Aman Rakbhar again went on to add another goal to Salgaocar FC’s tally with a solo run down the flank he dogged his way and sent in a curling ball in the bottom corner thus completing his brace and a third for his team.
Salgaocar FC coach brought in Ameya Kanadikar for Sevon Silva and the susbstition proved to be a brillian one as super sub Ameya went on to fire two more goals in the 66th and 80th minutes respectively giving Salgaocar FC a comfortable win.
Quelossim SC did not let Salgaocar FC to go home with a clean sheet.
Quelossim SC in the dying minutes were awarded with a spot kick after the referee caught the defender handle the ball inside the box.
The striker who stepped up to take the spot-kick made no mistake in placing the ball in the opposite side of the diving keeper to score the consolation goal for Quelossim SC.
