Salgoacar FC sink Port Towners

Devendra and Ribhav score a goal each for the Greens

PANJIM: Salgoacar FC defeated Vasco SC 2-0 in the Goa Football Association’s U-20 Taca Goa League match played at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Thursday.
Salgaocar FC started the game on an attacking note with excellent ball possession and created chances to score. 
In the 15th minute, Salgaocar’s Ribhav Sardesai’s shot was saved by the Vasco SC keeper. The Green Brigade then dictated the terms with switching the flanks.
Vasco SC came close to scoring in the 35th minute however their striker Josely Moniz shot the ball wide. 
Vasco SC defence stood tall led by Cruzner who denied Devendra Murgaokar and Selwyn Miranda on several goal scoring chances. 
The score at the end of the first half read 0-0.
In the second half, the Greens started from where they had left and went ahead in the 53th minute through Devendra Murgaokar’s strike. 
Vasco SC came back strong and tried to equalise but they were denied by the defence of the Green Brigade led by Stephen Alvares.  
Scuhbert of Vasco SC tried to score a long range later in the game but Salgaocar’s keeper Dipanjan Debnath was equal to the task. 
In the 90th minute Fhezer Gomes shot the ball home but was denied by the rival keeper however the ball rebounded to Ribhav Sardessai who made no mistake to bury it into the nets making it 2-0 for Salgoacar FC.
Meanwhile in the Third Division League (Ilhas zone) match played at Agassaim ground, St Mathew’s Sports Club and Batim Youth Club played out a 1-1 draw.
Clive Fernandes scored for Batim YC in the 29th minute while Arnold Fernandes made it all square for St Matew’s SC before the teams went into the breather.
