PANJIM: Saligao Sporting and St Anthony’s Sports Club, Marna played out a 1-1 draw, in the Goa Football Association’s Second Division League match, played at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Wednesday.
Both of the teams started the match on equal footing and tried to surge ahead from the word go however neither were able to break the deadlock in the 41st minute wherein St Anthony’s SC’s Pushparaj Mandrekar dribbled past a couple of rival defenders before he slotted the ball home to give his team the desired lead.
However, the joy was short lived as Saligao Sporting clawed back and managed to find the equaliser before the breather through Diptesh Naik.
In another match played at Agassaim ground, Portais SC thrashed Merces Club 7-0.
Remedios Vaz opened the scoring for Portais SC in the 19th minute while Vinod Achari wasted no time as the soon doubled the lead in the 24th minute.
Post resumption, Portais SC started from where they had left and took advantage of the feeble Merces defence as Arun Paryekar netted the third goal for his side in the 55th minute.
As the match progressed, Merces Club tried to make their presence felt through a few attacks on the rival citadel however Dion Fernandes netted yet another goal for Portais SC in the 64th minute before Remedios Vaz netted another goal in the 66th minute for Portais SC.
Later, Deepak Chatri drove the final nail into the coffin in the 72nd minute taking the tally to 7-0.
