Saligao beat Holiday Club

Saligao Sporting Club prevailed over Holiday Club, Arpora 7-6 via the sudden-death tie-breaker after the teams were involved in a 1-all draw in the Novino Lakhanpal inter-village football tournament organized by Candolim Sports Club at Dr. Gustavo Monteiro Stadium, Candolim on Monday. Saligao let 1-0 at half-time.
Dominating the first half, Saligao shot into lead in the 10th minute through Nagendra Kumar to make it 1-0. Down by a goal, Holiday Club tried to level the score but their forwards failed to find the net.
Changing ends, Holiday Club mounted pressure on Saligao defense and were able to restore parity through Adnan Baig to make it 1-1. Thereafter, both teams adopted a cautious approach and were content in playing for a draw.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Saligao proved to be better shooters prevailing over Holiday Club Arpora 6-5 via the tie-breaker to take the match at 7-6. Joseph, Savio, Alan, Nagendra, Mario and Uday converted for Saligao while Venancio, Stanley, Girish, Gaurish and Saish were on target for Holiday Club.
