MAPUSA: Saligao Sporting put up a stiff challenge to hold A A De Moira Sports Club to a 2-2 draw in the GFA Second Division League match, at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Friday.
Moira were the first to attack their rivals where in the first five minutes itself Sachinand and Siddesh Kesarkar saw their efforts ricochet off the cross piece.
While Moira attacked it was Saligao who took the lead when in the 8th minute of play James Fernandes set up Rohan Pednekar who made no mistake to fire the ball home, 1-0. Moira managed to level terms in the 40th minute of play when Savio on collecting the ball from Siddesh Kesarkar charged into the Saligao danger zone and slammed the ball into the back of the nets, 1-1.
Changing over Sachidanand Satelkar put Moira ahead when he gave finishing touches to Rudresh Tendulkar’s curling corner, 2-1.
Towards the end of the match Saligao managed to restore parity through Sheikh Naizi who scored off a penalty kick, 2-2.
