MAPUSA: Saligao Sporting pip Pilerne SC 2-1 to advance into the quarter-finals of the XI Reira Soccer Cup, organised by Saligao SC, played at Saligao Sporting ground, on Friday.
After much probing finally in the 22nd minute Saligao’s Ajay Diwadkar put his team ahead as he slotted the ball into the goal off a pass from Craig Menezes, 1-0.
On resumption, Pilerne exertered pressure on the rival citadel and equalised through Aaron Fernandes.
Just five minutes before the final hooter Saligao’s Craig guided the ball into the goals off a cross from Jason Monteiro, 2-1.
