BAINA: Saligao United Club Goa claimed the quarter final spot, edging out Goa Velha Sports Club 2-1 in the 44th Bandodkar Memorial football tournament, organised by Baina Sports Club and played at MPT grounds, Vasco on Sunday.
Saligao United led 2-0 at the close of the first half.
Saligao went in the lead in the 11th minute when Megan Dcruz shot home from a short pass from Sandesh Chopdekar on the right plank.
Jayesh Chodankar of Saligao increased the lead off Michael Dias assist in the 25th Minute.
Joseph Rodrigues got a free kick in the Saligao area which he converted in the 28 minute shooting between the gap of the Saligao defenders, to score past the bewildered Saligao keeper.
