CALANGUTE: Sangolda Boys squeezed past Carmona Boys by a solitary goal to emerge champions of Copa Goa 2013 All-Goa 7-a-side football tournament organized by Festa Friends – Dubai at Sangolda ground, Sunday. Ther was no score at half time.
Carmona Boys began the match on a promising note coming close to scoring on a couple of occasions but their forwards failed to beat Sangolda goalkeeper Joseph.
Changing over, Carmona defense conceded a free kick which was slotted home by Nesty. Down by a goal, Carmona Boys went all-out in search of the equalizer but were unlucky not to draw level.
Sangolda Boys thus claimed the winner’s purse of Rs 40,000 while Carmona Boys settled for the runners-up prize of Rs 20,000. Mohammed of Carmona Boys was adjudged best goalkeeper.
Bansilal Naik, social worker was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of other dignitaries.
