Sanguem Warriors crowned cricket champs in UAE

PANJIM: Sanguem Warriors clinched the Innovative Interiors Champions Trophy cricket tournament defeating Petromann in the final played at Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, recently.

Sanguem Warriors won the toss against favorites Petromann and elected to field. Petromann scored 55 for the loss of two wickets with Tausif Jamadar being the top scorer for his team with 39 runs in 19 balls.  In reply, Sanguem Warriors chased the required target for the loss of just one wicket with Abdul Shaikh scoring 29 runs in just 12 balls followed by Shakeeb 24 in 7 balls. Sanguem Warriors captain Aslam Shaikh was excellent throughout the tournament with his astute leadership which made them win the coveted title.

Abdul Shaikh of Sanguem Warriors won the man-of-the-match award for his brilliant batting performance, best batsman and best bowler award went to VSCC International Players’ Younus Wahab and Humair Khan. 

Rehan Khan of Sanquelim Eagles won the man-of-the-series award for his fantastic all-round performance thought out the tournament.

Six top teams of Goa with two international players in each team including Sangem Warriors, Petromann, Sanquelim Eagles, VSCC, Karama 32 Warriors, and the host Unknown Virus, battled it out for the title of supremacy.

Unknown Virus partnered with the Goans Connecting Goans, adding a unique touch to the cricket event and strengthening commitment to bringing people together through sports and culture.
