PANJIM: Santa Cruz Angels, Cuncolim beat Benaulim Juniors 4-1 to clinch the Ave Maria A & WC Save the Child U-14 boys trophy organised by Ave Maria Athletic & Walkers Club on Sinquetim ground.
Visiton Fernnandes, Scott Fernandes, Aron Fernandes and Vansh Goanker scored a goal each for Santa Cruz Angels while Jonas Pinto reduced the margin for Benaulim Juniors. The winners took home ‘Save the Child Trophy’ and Rs 10,000 along with individual trophies. The runners-up took home a trophy and Rs 6,000 along with individual trophies.
Other award winners were: Youngest Player Enrolled-Rainer Goes(Ave Maria Future Stars), Youngest Player Played: Emanuel Carvalho (Ave Maria Future Stars), Special Team Player: Trigunesh Sawant (FC Benaulim), Best Goalkeeper Mhd. Mudasheer Shaik (Ave Maria Save the Child), Best Player of the Finals: Sharmad Kurade (Santa Cruz Angels), Most Disciplined Team: Super Creation Nuvem. Player of the Tournament & Highest Scorer: Vansh Gaonkar.
On the way to finals, Santa Cruz Angels defeated United Sports Club, Seraulim 2-0, with Varsh Goanker accounting for both the goals. In the semis they thrashed of FC Benaulim 11-0. Varsh Goanker scored 4 goals, Leshawn Cardozo 3 while Prefen Rebello, Nash Fernandes, Aaron Fernandes and Mackenly Pinto scored one each.
Benaulim Juniors defeated Rosa Football Academy 4-0, with Yelloy Fernandes, Calvin Fernandes, Ethen D’Silva and Shadon Rodrigues scoring a goal each. In the semis they beat Super Creations 5-0 with Jonas Pinto, Yelloy Fernandes, Shaden Rodrigues, Calvin Fernandes and Nash Dias being the scorers.
Earlier, Girija Devi Desai kicked started the tournament. Hosts Ave Maria AWC Save the Child and Future Stars were the other 2 teams that participated in the 2 days tournament.
