MARGAO: Sanvordem United will take on Sunrisers of Sanguem in the opening match of the 14th edition of Sanguem T20 all-Goa cricket tournament, organized by Sanguem Cricketers in association with Sports Authority of Goa, at Sports complex ground, Sanguem, today.
The tournament will be declared open at 9.30 a.m. by Sanguem MLA Subhash Faldesai in the presence of Sanguem Municipality Chairman Deepak Marathe and GCA Treasurer Vilas Gauns Desai.
In all, 16 top teams from the State will participate in the eight day tournament and the final will be played on April 12 with the prize distribution being held in the presence of Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar, MLA Nilesh Cabral and Subhash Faldesai.
Sanvordem United, Sunrisers of Sanguem, SOS, Mathura Sports and Farms, Mandovi Boys, Bannerman CC, Curchorem Sports Club, Ghumteshwar Warriors, Sarvodaya Sporting, Multipurpose Cricketers, Curchorem Gymkhana, Arlem CC, Om Cricketers, Goa Police, Mangalmurti Cricketers and Siddheshwar Sports Club are the leading teams participating.
Three GPL or outstation players will be allowed to play in each team. The winner will be awarded Rs 51,000 and a glittering trophy while the runner-up will take home Rs 30,000 and a trophy.
