RAIA: Sao Jose de Areal emerged victorious in the finals of 32nd Super Soccer tournament for Joao Francis Fernandes Trophy organised by United Boys Dando, Colva, edging out Maina SC, Curtorim, 10-9 in a thrilling tie-breaker at St John de Baptist ground Benaulim, Sunday. The teams were level 1-1 at full time.
Joywin put Curtorim ahead in the 15th minute and Areal’s Alister Monteiro equalised in the 24th minute.
In the second half, both teams battled for possession, resulting in a tight and strategic contest. Eventually, the tie-breaker was resorted to to determine the winner, with Areal displaying composure to clinch the title.
Sao Jose de Areal claimed Rs 50,000 along with the trophy. Maina Curtorim had to be content with Rs 40,000 and a trophy.

Best disciplined team – USC Seraulim. Best goalkeeper of tournament – Joseph Monteiro (Areal SC). Best defender of tournament – Maldino Rodrigues (Maina SC). Best midfielder of tournament – Mildroy Colaco (PY Nuvem). Best striker of tournament – Alister Monteiro (Sao Jose de Areal SC). First goal of final – Joywin Carneiro (Maina SC). Best goalkeeper of final – John Bogot (Maina SC). Best defender of final – Bersal Viegas (Sao Jose de Areal SC). Best midfielder of final – Mohammad Mansoori (Areal SC). Best forward of final – Milagres Fernandes (Maina SC). Man-of-the final – Mohammad Mansoori (Areal SC).
Fr Simpliciano Fernandes, Colva Parish Priest was the chief guest and gave away 0the prizes.
