RAIA: Sao Jose de Areal secured their spot in the quarter-finals of the St Joseph Festival inter-village football tournament with a thrilling 7-6 win in the tie-breaker against Curtorim Gymkhana. The match took place at the Dramapur football ground on Thursday.
Curtorim took an early lead in the 5th minute courtesy of Marcus Fernandes. They extended their advantage when Sevin Luis found the back of the net.
However, Sao Jose de Areal mounted a comeback, levelling the score in the 55th and 60th minutes with goals scored by Vanael Travasso.
In the tie-breaker, Sao Jose de Areal emerged victorious with successful penalties from Raymond, Tyson, Stalen, Alister, and Myron. Curtorim Gymkhana responded with penalties converted by Joy, Marcus, Savio, and Savio, but it wasn’t enough to secure the win for them.
