DICARPALE: Sao Jose de Areal defeated Ugem Rising Club 2-0 to lift the Our Lady of Fatima Cup organised by Dicarpale SC, at Dicarpale panchayat ground, recently.
Sao Jose de Areal netted the first goal through Jeston Fernandes in the 20th minute with a snap shot.
Alvito Moura doubled the lead for Areal 45 minutes later.
Uguem’s Arnold Fernandes missed a sitter in the 70th minute.
The winners were awarded Rs 40,000 while the runners-up received Rs. 30,000 plus trophies.
Churchill Alemao, MLA of Benaulim constituency was the chief guest but left early. Other dignitaries present were Benjamin Silva, Ex-MLA of Velim constituency, Fr John Philip Menezes, parish priest of Dicarpale SC, Bina Kulkarni, Sarpanch of VP Davorlim, Filomana Costa, PI of Colva police station, Joaquim Manuel D’Silva, South Goa referee officer gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up.
