RAIA: Sao Jose de Areal blanked Raia FC 2-0 to move into the final of the FC Raia football tournament and played at Raia Panchyat ground, on Thursday.
FC Raia had the first best chance of the match in the 1st minute itself but Oilex Oliveira’s low power drive was easily saved by Joseph Monteiro keeper of Areal.
After that Alviton Silva connected a well measured ball to Raymond Fernandes who drew the first blood with an acrobatic finish for San Jose de Areal in the third minute.
There after Raia FC striker Wilfred Gomes failed to connect to Llyod Cardozo’s ball inside the box.
As the match progressed Areal doubled the lead in the 26th minute through Raymond after dribbling past a couple of Raia defenders the striker cooly placed the ball inside Raia net after Bresel Viegas sent a brilliant ball to him through the flanks.
Don Bosco Fernandes of Raia missed an open chance to score in the 56th minute.
Raia tried their level best to equalise but the defence lines of Areal were on active mode till the end of the second half to maintain the lead to 2-0.
