Sao Jose de Areal downed Ambelim Sports Club 1-0 to enter the semi-final of the Arlem Trophy football tournament organised by Arlem Youth Association at Raia panchayat grounds, on Tuesday.
Sao Jose de Areal dominated the opening session with their forwards and midfielders working in tandem but their forwards initially could not convert the moves upfront.
After an initial hiccup, Sao Jose de Areal struck the rhythm and piled up pressure. Their persistent raids however paid off when Fredrick Antos slotted past Ambelim goalkeeper.
Ambelim Sports Club put up a better display in the second session and created umpteen opportunities but Sao Jose de Areal defenders stood tall in repulsing the rival attacks.
Ambelim Sports Club had also scoring chances but their forwards let them down badly.
