Sao Jose de Areal SC move into semis

MARGAO: Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club rallied from behind to defeat St Anthony's Sports Club, Colva 7-5 via tie-breaker to move into the semi-finals of South Goa McDowell's No. 1 Yaari Premier Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Cuncolim Union, at government school playground, Cuncolim, on Tuesday.

MARGAO: Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club rallied from behind to defeat St Anthony’s Sports Club, Colva 7-5 via tie-breaker to move into the semi-finals of South Goa McDowell’s No. 1 Yaari Premier Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Cuncolim Union, at government school playground, Cuncolim, on Tuesday. 
There was no score at half time.
Both the teams adopted the aggressive approach and had equal number of scoring chances. 
Sao Jose de Areal Sports Club were the first to fire the shots against the rival goal when Silvester Carvalho rasping shot miss the target narrowly.
Two minutes later Sao Jose de Areal SC came close to scoring but striker Alvito Moura’s missed the sitter with only Colva goalkeeper Romario Fernandes to beat.
At the other end, St Anthony’s SC did not lag behind in troubling the rival defence and had scoring opportunities but Sneeden Rodrigues, Candido Dias and Baptist Fernandes squandered chances.
Post resumption, St Anthony’s SC were a dominant lot and before even the players took their postion, St Anthony’s SC scored the first goal in the 44th minute when Joel Rodrigues beat the rival goalkeeper with snap shot through pass from Sneeden Roxdrigues. 
Spurred by the success, St Anthony’s SC upped the ante and pushed their opponents on the back foot. Maxon Fernandes headed home a well taken free kick by Baptist Fernandes to give St Anthony’s SC team a 2-0 cushion.
After conceding double blows, Sao Jose de Areal SC slowly tried to recuperate themselves and in the 53rd minute as Allistern Camotim unleashed a 40 yards shot which crashed into the net keeping St. Anthony’s SC goalkeeper dazed. 
The reducer boosted the morale of Sao Jose De Areal SC lads as they mounted pressure on the rival defence and in the 64th minute, Allistern Camotim struck second time to register his brace of Alvito Moura pass to put his team on equal terms.
In the ensuing penalty shootout, Ceston Gomes, Princeson Dias, Allistern Camotim, David Colaco and Alloy Soares were on target for Sao Jose de Areal SC while Romario Fernandes, Maxon Fernandes and Joseph Pereira found the mark for St Anthony’s SC. 
Allistern Camotim who was in thick action was adjudged the man-of-the-match.
