MARGAO: Clube Sao Miguel de Taleigao edged past Dicarpale Sports Club 4-2 via the tie-breaker to cruise into the quarter-finals of All Goa Verna Panchayat Cup inter-village football tournament, organized by Verna Sports Club, at Verna ground, Saturday.
There was no score at full time. Both the teams adopted defensive approach right from the word go as result the play was confined to midfield.
Crossing over, both showed urgency and attacked each other’s goals but without success. With time ticking out, the teams went all out but rival defenders stood tall in protecting their citadel intact.
In the ensuing tiebreaker, Cedric Peixoto, Vincy Falcao, Ramesh Palkar and Rajesh converted for Clube Sao Miguel de Taleigao while Joe Gomes and Clinton Niasso scored for Dicarpale Sports Club.
