PANJIM: Sarzora Sports Club beat Dicarpale Sports Club 5-4 via the tie-breaker to win the Assumpta Trophy, organised by Sarzora Sports Club and played at SAG ground, Sarzora, on Sunday.
In the 35th minute Dicarpale came close to scoring through Mack Borges, but he was denied by Sarzora goalkeeper Sunny Fernandes.
In the 41st minute, Dicarpale’s Mack Borges was denied by Sarzora goalkeeper.
In the 43rd minute, Joel Colaco was denied by Sarzora goal goalkeeper.
Sarzora goalkeeper came to rescue of Sarzora SC on several occasions, who was later adjudged man of the match.
There was no scores in the regulation time. In the tie-breaker, Joyron Fernandes, Merilo Ferrao, Myron Costa, Selwyn Fernandes and Chadel Fernandes converted the penalties for Sarzora. Joel Colaco, Mack Borges, Stendly Miranda and Lesser Raikar scored for Dicarpale.

The winners got Rs 40,000 while the runners-up had to settle for Rs 30,000.

Oswald D’Souza was the chief guest and gave away the prizes, along with guest of honour Rev Fr Bernard Fernandes in the presence of Melroy Fernandes, goalkeeper Sporting Club de Goa & Goa Santosh Trophy team, Sr Jessie Principal Assumpta Convent, Sarzora, Sarzora Sarpanch Sabita Mascarenhas, Zilla member Edwin Cardozo, Ex-Velim MLA Benjamin Silva, GFA executive member Babush Coelho, John Dias Proprietor Joncia Shipping Pvt. Ltd. and Andrew Fernandes former Vasco SC player.
