Sarzora to clash with Navelim SC in final

BETALBATIM: Sarzora SC got the better of Betalbatim SC 5-2 via the tie-breaker to move into the final of the Martin’s Cup football tournament, organised by Betalbatim SC, at Betalbatim Sports Complex, on Wednesday.

BETALBATIM: Sarzora SC got the better of Betalbatim SC 5-2 via the tie-breaker to move into the final of the Martin’s Cup football tournament, organised by Betalbatim SC, at Betalbatim Sports Complex, on Wednesday.
Both teams played an attacking brand of football from the first whistle.
Betalbatim’s Hasten D’Costa’s shot should have given the lead in the 5th minute but
Sarzora keeper Melroy Fernandes fisted the ball away to safety.
Sarzora’s Dolwin Costa’s long range effort was brilliantly saved by Betalbatim SC keeper Jonathan Miranda in the tenth minute.
Sarzora’s Denil Rebello’s powerful downward header was saved by Betalbatim goalkeeper in the 15th minute.
Betalbatim Ricky Fernandes’ move was thwarted by Elton Menezes of Sarzora in the 18th minute.
The second half saw both teams scoring a goal each. Hayden Cardozo opened the account with a rasping drive for Sarzora while Betalbatim SC levelled terms through Austin Fernandes.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Sarzora netted through Hayden Cardoza, Dolwin Costa, Steflon D’Costa and Elton Menezes while Sarzora scored the only goal through Melroy Costa.
Sarzora SC will meet Navelim SC in the final on January 22.
