MAPUSA: Chapora Yuvak Sangh trounced Pilerne SC 6-0 in GFA’s Second Division match at Duler stadium, here on Wednesday.
With today’s win Chapora are on 19 points from seven matches and lead the league table while Pilerne has nine points from six matches.
The highlight of today’s match was a brilliant hat-trick by Sachidanand Satelkar. Chandam Govenkar (2) and Arjun Shetgaonkar were the other scorers.
In the very first minute, Chapora’s Sachidanand Satelkar broke the off-side trap and lobbed the ball into the goal past onrushing Pilerne custodian, Krupesh Bandodkar.
In the 17th minute, Chapora’s Alfred Noronha squared to unmarked
Sachidanand whose stiff grounder sneaked past the diving Pilerne custodian.
Pilerne had a golden opportunity to reduce the margin in the 20th minute. Prakash Ratod collected a pass from Yeshwant More and let go a hot blooded shot which was, however, brilliantly blocked by
Chapora’s custodian Soma Korgaonkar.
In the 31st minute, Sachidanand Satelkar scored with a neat placement to complete his hat-trick. Five minutes later, Chandan Govenkar controlled a pass from Aniket Naik and scored.
On crossing over, Chapora were all over the rival citadel and Sachidanand Satelkar’s two strikes rebounded off the crossbar while substitute Pratik Dargalkar saw his header being fisted over for a corner by the Pilerne custodian.
Chandan Govenkar netted his brace in the 67th minute and Arjun Shetgaonkar added his name for the sixth goal from close.
At Guirim ground, PVC Parra managed to edge past Benny XI 2-1. Cyprion Rodrigues and Sahil Jalmi were on target for Parra. Chirag Kauthankar scored for Benny.
At Salvador do Mundo ground, Bidesh XI also managed to edge past Sinquerim SC 2-1.
