TALEIGAO: Mahesh Naik scored a treble in a match which witnessed eight goals as Sateri Sports Club eased their way past Odxel Sports Club with a 6-2 win in the Goa Football Association Second Division League Ilhas Zone match played at Taleigao ground, on Friday.
Mahesh’s brilliance was ably supported by Vilas, who scored a brace in their riot over their opponents, who had a miserable day on the field.
Sateri SC dominated the initial minutes of the game and rightfully took the lead in the 20th minute through Mahesh and within five minutes they doubled the account through Vilas Bandodkar.
In the one sided battle, Sateri gave no chance for Odxel to keep the ball as they played the ball across the field. Sateri netted their third through Latish Kunkolkar and Mahesh Naik made it 4-0 completing his brace. On a rare counter Odxel SC finally managed to pull a goal back through Sameer Diukar. The winners led 4-1 at the breather.
The second half was no different. After starting slowly Sateri were once again at their best and taking advantage of poor Odxel defending, Vilas scored his second and team’s fifth in the 77th minute. With two players vying hat-tricks, Mahesh was successful to complete his treble in the 79th minute to make it 6-1.
Pandurang Gawni pulled another goal for Odxel.
