PANJIM: Saunta Vaddo Boys, Calangute defeated Tamil Tigers, Siolim 3-2 in the final of Ashley Luis and Suhas Parsekar memorial football tie-breaker tournament organised by Gaura Vaddo United at Gaura Vaddo ground, Calangute on Saturday.
In all, 40 teams participated in the tournament. The winners and runners-up were awarded cash prizes of Rs 12,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively along with the trophies.
The losing semi-finalists Gaura Vaddo C and Nerul Boys were awarded Rs 2,500 each.
Individual prizes were awarded to best goalkeeper Dhanesh (Saunta Vaddo Boys), best shooter Santan (Tamil Tigers) and upcoming player Presley (Gaura Vaddo).
Chief guest Victor Fernandes, CEO of Sporting Clube de Goa; Joseph Sequeira, Deputy Sarpanch of Calangute Village Panchayat gave away the prizes.
Also present were Gajanand Kerkar, president of Calangute Association; Alirio Lobo, executive committee member of Calangute Association; Prashant Korgaonkar, vice president of St Savio Sports Club, Saunta Vaddo and family members of late Ashley Luis and Suhas Parsekar. George Fernandes compered while Santos Rodrigues proposed the vote of thanks.
