PANJIM: Savordem Boys, Savordem emerged champions defeating Inter Warriors of St Inez, Panjim by 69 runs in the final of the all-Goa tennis ball cricket tournament, organized by Gopalkrishna Sports and Cultural Club, Dharjowada, Kundaim, at Kundaim Panchayat ground, recently. In all, 16 teams participated in the tournament.
Savordem Boys scored 119 runs in five overs. In reply, Inter Warriors managed only 59 runs in the allotted overs.
The winners bagged a cash prize of Rs 10,000 while the runners-up had to be content with Rs 5,000.
The semi-finalists, Match Fixing from Usgao and Kundaim Cricketers were awarded Rs 2,000 each.
Individual prizes were also awarded to Best bowler to Deepesh of Savordem Boys, Best batsman to Swapnesh of Savordem Boys and Best player of the tournament to Sachin of Inter Warriors.
Santosh Mahanandu Naik, industrialist was the chief guest for the prize distribution function and complimented the organizers for the tournaments success which has been organized for several years.
Santosh Naik further emphasized the need to maintain discipline and sporting spirit by the sportspersons.
Prakash Naik, President of Gopalkrishna Sports and Cultural Club; Shanto Naik, secretary and Girish Vasu were also present.
