SANVORCOTTO CUNCOLIM: Santa Cruz of Cavelossim defeated Host Cuncolim Union by 6-5 via the tie-breaker and entered the quarter-finals of Late Afonso Aguiar memorial inter-village football tournament at Cuncolim ground, on Saturday.
In the fifth minute, Blayne Rodrigues of Cavelossim latched on to the loose ball and gave a lead to Cavellossim.
In the very next minute, Cuncolim were awarded a penalty for a foul on Dylan Carvalho who converted the penalty to level the score 1-1.
Cavelossim took the lead through Meavan Graces in the eighth minute and made it 2-1.
In the 17th minute, Dylan Carvalho equalised for Cuncolim with a placement shot from outside the box to make it 2-2.
In the 22nd minute, Cuncolim Union overcame the earlier jitters to take lead through Daulat Dessai to make it 3-2. Daulat placed the ball calmly in the net through a well timed pass from Wilson Fernandes.
In the second half, Cavelossim took control of the match and continued pressure in the Cuncolim box paid off as Daryl Estebeiro’s shot went pass the Cuncolim keeper and score was level 3-3.
In the tie breaker, Darren, Presley Rodriguez and Ashley Pinto scored for Cavelossim while Dylan Carvalho and Errin Dsouza found the net for Cuncolim Union.
