MAPUSA: Sporting Club of Davorlim registered a hard fought 4-2 win via the tie-breaker over Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club to advance into the semi-finals of the 10th All-Goa Late Pio Jose Goveia Soccer, organized by YSC Colvale, at Colvale ground, here, on Tuesday. The team were locked goalless at full time.
In the penalty shoot-out was implemented where for Davorlim colts Agnelo Colaco, Joel Colaco, Stanley Miranda, Venson Furtado were on target.
Parish Youth Vagator SC could not keep their cool and managed to score through only Vinayak Mulgaonkar and Akshay Dabolkar could only score.
The Man-of-the-Match was awarded to Jodrell Gomes of Davorlim.
On Monday, Holy Cross Arambol registered a 3-1 victory over Goa Velha to enter the semi-finals.
Arambol will now face Sao Jose de Areal SC the semi-final round slated for December 11.
Arambol went into the lead in the 32nd minute, courtesy to an own-goal by the Goa Velha defender, who in the process of clearing away Jason Fernandes strike at the goal, tapped the ball into his own nets.
Within two minutes on crossing over, Arambol doubled their lead when Domnic Alphonso was at the right place to tap home the ball from a goalmouth melee.
In the 46th minute, Goa Velha managed to pull one back through the boots of Savio Fernandes only to see opportunist Dietmar Fernandes rise high to nod home the ball from close range, into the Goa Velha goal, to round off the score tally to 3-1.
Jason Fernandes of HC Arambol received the Man-of-the-Match award.
