VARCA: Sporting Club of Davorlim blanked CRC Chinchinim 2-0 to move into the quarter-finals of the Varca Panchayat Cup organised by Varca Sports Club, at Varca SC ground, on Thursday.
Sporting Club of Davorlim took the lead in the 18th minute through Abhay Shetty.
Soon after Abhay would have doubled the lead but missed an open chance by shooting wide, who had only goalkeeper Rayson D’Souza of CRC Chinchinim to tackle.
Minutes later, CRC Chinchinim missed a golden opportunity when Shanoy Fernandes after reaching the rival goal shot wide.
In the second half, Sporting Club of Davorlim regrouped with renewed ideas and started attacking the rival citadel. In the proceedings, Mable Miranda came up good to increase the goal tally in the 44th minute.
Down with two-goal, CRC Chinchinim mounted pressure time and again but all their efforts went in vain as Sporting Club of Davorlim stood tall in the defence.
