BENAULIM: SC Davorlim beat CAC Cansaulim 3-1 to enter the quarter-finals of the Cana-Benaulim Panchayat Cup organised by St Sebastian Union Club, Benaulim, at Sao Joao Baptist ground, on Tuesday.
Davorlim’s Paxton Gomes had the first chance of the match in the third minute but the latter’s shot was punched away to safety by Cansaulim keeper Prabhakar Kattimini.
Cansaulim’s Ashley Soares should have scored in the 21st minute but the later shot wide. Two minutes later, Cansio Soares’ left footer was saved by the Davorlim keeper.
In the second half, Davorlim went all out guns blazing at Cansaulim and in the 45th minute Valmiki Miranda took a shot which sailed over the Cansaulim keeper to open the account for Davorlim.
Four minutes later, Davorlim made it 2-0 through Paxton Gomes.
Within 10 minutes, Ashley Soares reduced the margin for Cansaulim from the spot kick.
Just four minutes left for the final whistle, substitute striker Davorlim’s Mabel Miranda shot from close range to seal the victory for SC Davorlim.
SC Davorlim will now meet Goan Warriors in the quarter-final on June 9.
