MARGAO: Sporting Club of Davorlim outplayed Cuncolim Union 3-0 to emerge champions in Snow’s Trophy inter-village football tournament organised by Snow’s
Davorlim made their intentions clear as they instantly went on the offensive. They enjoyed the better of the exchanges in both sessions.
Cuncolim Union were a subdued lot as they failed to function as a cohesive unit.
Davorlim had to wait till the 25th minute to surge ahead when Remete Colaco bulged the net after being fed by Milagres Figuereido.
Cuncolim tried their best but failed to get past the rival
rearguard. They came close to restoring parity but Davorlim goalkeeper Roston Noronha came to his side’s rescue, parrying away Maison Fernandes’ shot.
Davorlim stepped on the pedal in the second half and doubles the lead in the 50th minute when striker Paxton Gomes scored off Stanley Fernandes.
Davorlim rounded off the tally in the 55th minute as
Rosebud Gomes headed home a flag kick taken by Sunny Viegas.
Davorlim won Rs 40,000 while Cuncolim Union took home Rs 30,000.

Upcoming player Shanunur Quadros of Snow’s FA. Peter Vaz, president of Sporting Clube de Goa was the chief guest and gave away the prizes. Alberto Colaco, GFA general secretary, former GFA secretary Savio Messais and present GFA Executive Committee member were the guests of honour.
Eng Ernesto Moniz, Judas Quadros, Menino Fernandes, Afra Reveredo were the special invitees.
Earlier, Nazareth Gomes, president of Snow’s
FA proposed the vote of thanks. The function was compared by Shrikhant Sawant.
