RAIA: SC Davorlim edged past Sao Jose de Areal 6-5 via tie-breaker to book their place into the semi-finals of the Gold Silver Trophy inter-village football tournament played at Rosary church ground, Navelim, on Tuesday.
It was a match played between two close neighbours being watched by around 900 spectators and the rain didn’t dampen their spirit.
Reeve of SC Davorlim was the star of the match with his power-packed shots and number of assists to his teammates while Stelen gave his best to his team Sao Jose de Areal.
Tyson of Sao Jose de Areal missed a chance to score in the 2nd minute. Then it was Reeve of SC Davorlim netted the first goal of the match in the 4th minute but the joy was short-lived as Stelen equalised for Sao Jose de Areal in the 29 minute.
At the end of regulation time, both the teams settled for a 1-1 draw. In the resultant tie-breaker, SC Davorlim netted through Reeve, William, Ajay, Prince and Adarsh while for Sao Jose de Areal Alister, Tyson, Stelen and Myron scored.
Francis Colaco of SC Davorlim was presented the man-of-the-match award by George Baretto.
